E in a Purple Sweater

This is my little one. It’s painted in acrylic on canvas panel, 12x16in. ┬áThis piece was one of two winners in the monthly contest at the April meeting of the Lake County Art League.

A different direction

This latest piece is something completely different for me. My work has been less and less representational the past few months, but this is the first piece that is completely abstract. I’m generally pleased with it, and have gotten some good feedback. (This piece was one of three June winners in the Lake County Art League monthly competition.) I’m working on something else similar in size, composition, and color, but with different materials and method. Not sure if this will develop into a series, or if I will stop with the two. But I think this direction has definitely worked to combat the stagnation I was feeling a month or two ago, and I think I might be starting to “add value.”

Contest Winner

This week I entered Baby E Upside Down in the Lake County Art League monthly competition, and it was selected as one of the winners! The judge was Sandra Bacon, a working artist and representative for Golden Acrylics.
