Gallery Grand Opening in Downtown Libertyville!

This Friday from 5-8 p.m. is the grand opening of Julie J Studio at 346 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville, IL. I had a chance to see the collection being put together, and Julie has found a really fantastic group of artists working in all kinds of media. I’ll be showing the last two of the Blue Squares series and a few other paintings. Come out and enjoy the show!

Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend

Blue Squares sold this week, and selling a piece I love is so bittersweet. I’m going to miss having it around and taking it with me to shows. On the other hand…I sold a painting! This one is part of a set of three, so I’ll have to start thinking of something to complete the set again.

WordPress sent me a graph of my posting habits for the year:

That fizzle at the end? Also a graphic representation of the napping habits of the local native toddler. So as always, just when I think I have a momentum going the dynamic struggle among inspiration, motivation, time, and creative energy stops me again. So in the spirit of finding a new way to work, again, I am experimenting with a new medium. Which breathes new life into my work through a sense of adventure and experimentation.

First successful experiment to follow shortly.

Memorial Portrait

A few months back I donated a custom portrait to an auction, and now that Christmas is over I can finally share the project. The winner asked me to do a portrait of her recently deceased father to give as a Christmas present to her mother. I was so honored to be part of such a special Christmas gift, and am sharing the drawing here with the purchaser’s permission.
