Fits and Starts

WordPress sent me a graph of my posting habits for the year:

That fizzle at the end? Also a graphic representation of the napping habits of the local native toddler. So as always, just when I think I have a momentum going the dynamic struggle among inspiration, motivation, time, and creative energy stops me again. So in the spirit of finding a new way to work, again, I am experimenting with a new medium. Which breathes new life into my work through a sense of adventure and experimentation.

First successful experiment to follow shortly.

Memorial Portrait

A few months back I donated a custom portrait to an auction, and now that Christmas is over I can finally share the project. The winner asked me to do a portrait of her recently deceased father to give as a Christmas present to her mother. I was so honored to be part of such a special Christmas gift, and am sharing the drawing here with the purchaser’s permission.

2011 was an excellent year in art for me. I participated in two group shows and a street festival and started putting new pieces on the blog on a consistent basis. I sold work some work, gave some away, and all in all have more pieces being seen and making an impact than when the year began. My goal for 2012 is to find more time to create, and to find more ways to get my work into other peoples’ lives.

The Baby and The Toddler

This piece refused to photograph well. It was wrapped and ready to be given as a gift, and after seeing the photograph I had taken of it I furiously unwrapped it to fix it. Once unwrapped the piece looked fine, and just needed to be re-photographed. The second try wasn’t much better, but I’m posting it anyway since I love the piece itself. I think the camera is as depressed as I am about the lack of sunshine.

Holiday Decorations

I’ve been more furiously creative than ever during this holiday season, but my most recent projects are all unpostable until Christmas passes and recipients have been duly surprised. Here are a few images from our holiday decorations. Recent work will be posted soon.

I love the rainbows-they appear on one of my tabels for about 30 minutes every afternoon and then they are gone.
